What I have to say:
If you’re familiar with Smashbox Photo Finish Primer, this feels and works a lot like that. It’s a silicone-based primer, so it does a great job smoothing large pores and fine lines. I find that it does make my foundation apply more smoothly and my makeup lasts longer when I use this as a base. I experienced a few more blemishes than normal when I used this, but that tends to happen to me with silicone-based products. It does contain Vitamin C and Aloe Vera, but they are the last two ingredients on the ingredients list, so I’m skeptical that they are present in high enough concentration to have any real effect. I didn’t experience any noticeable improvement to my skin while using this. Then again, I don’t really need my primer to perform skin care functions. That’s why I use skin care products. At $19.95 for an ounce, it’s about $12 cheaper than the Smashbox version ($32 for an ounce), which may or may not be enough to sway you from the big name. If I were spending my own money, I’d probably splurge on Smashbox because there are more options (one for oily skin, one for redness, etc.) or for some other brand altogether (I’d like to try a silicone-free primer). Personally, I’d be more inclined to buy this if it were priced in the $10-$12 range.
