Malin + Goetz Essential Kit review

Malin + Goetz Essential Kit

I was so impressed with the Malin + Goetz Detox Face Mask, that I just had to try some of their other products but without the full size commitment.  For my second order from Zuneta, I decided to purchase the Malin + Goetz Essential Kit which comes with six mini products so that I can test them out a bit more than just a sachet of product.  This is the lovely package that I received from Zuneta…

All these bottles of products are small and more designed for travel or just testing out some of the range.  They’re 29ml each and I found that I got quite a bit of use out of each of them.  It’s a perfect kit for going on holiday with.

Grapefruit Face Cleanser…
Grapefruit face cleanser is formulated to work for all skin types including sensitive which I wasn’t so sure about when I first started using it but I get the thinking behind it.  If I had only one choice of products to do facials with on any one client, I would use everything for sensitive skin because its always going to be super gentle and won’t react.
This is a clear liquid that smells like grapefruit/citrus but has a slight hint of washing up liquid too.  To be fair, the smell isn’t strong enough to smell while you’re washing your face.  I actually quite like this product because its not drying and is really quite concentrated.  You only need a little bit to get it going.  If you use too much it doesn’t really work as well and you don’t feel like its done enough.  My skin felt nice and clean without being dry or tight and its definitely a product that I would buy the full size of.
Vitamin E Face Moisturiser…
Vitamin E face moisturiser is again, formulated for any skin type including sensitive.  It’s a thick white cream formula that doesn’t contain any oil which is nice and light and again, you only need a little bit.  The smell is weird, like it doesn’t really have a smell?  Its strange, really hard to explain.  It’s not offensive or anything like that.  I found that the formula of this cream was fine when being applied but felt like it dried down a bit powdery.  I’m not a fan of that texture on my face because I have dry/dehydrated skin so I prefer something more moist.  I think for anyone with normal, combination or slightly oily skin this would be a better fit.
Bergamot Body Wash…
Bergamot body wash is lovely!!  Formulated for all skin types.  I really like this product and would most definitely buy a large bottle of this stuff.  It’s a cloudy looking gel, almost opaque.  It has a great fresh fragrance which isn’t masculine or feminine, its for everybody!  Kind of herbal but fresh and uplifting.  I really like that you don’t use much and it foams lovely which was surprising because it doesn’t contain any SLS.
Vitamin B5 Body Moisturiser…
Vitamin B5 body moisturiser is formulated for all skin types.  It is a really thick white cream formula again with no oil in it which gives it a similar powdery dry down feeling like the vitamin E face moisturiser.  The smell is almost citrus but its not my cup of tea.  I just don’t like this moisturiser from the smell to the texture.  Sorry, not a fan.
Peppermint Shampoo…
Peppermint shampoo is formulated for all hair types (see a pattern yet?).  It is a clear gel formula that has a very strong, albeit natural, peppermint smell.  I did like using this shampoo because of the smell and it leaves an ever so slight tingle on my scalp but its not a product that I would buy again.  It does the trick shampoo wise in that it cleans well and doesn’t dry my hair or scalp out at all, but I’ve used better for my hair and scalp.
Cilantro Hair Conditioner…
Cilantro (or coriander as we know it) hair conditioner is a thick white cream formula with a really strong smell.  Its very herb like, obviously because its coriander but its kind of stinky.  I really don’t like the smell of this and wasn’t too impressed with the effect it left me with.  It conditions fine but I didn’t feel it was enough for my dry curly hair.
I’m not completely put off from using Malin + Goetz (pronounced “marlin” and “gets”).  I am glad that I bought this kit to try out some of their range before buying full size.  Its hard to know what works for you when you can’t test it in person.  Saying that however, while writing this post, I have got word that Space NK are now stocking Malin + Goetz so I can pop in on a mooch and check out some of their other bits before buying.
I’m still completely infatuated with the detox mask and want a full size bottle ASAP!!  I also really like their ethos that they don’t need to have loads of different types of products for different people but that can only work for a percentage of people.  I’m gonna use what works for me and leave the rest for everyone else…
