Mac Viva Glam Gaga Lipstick and Lipglass Review Swatches | Glam Radar

Mac’s Viva Glam campaigns are always a start-studded affair. Last year we saw two amazing female stars (Cyndi Lauper and Lady Gaga) feature as the faces of Viva Glam for 2010. This year Lady Gaga returns with a new Viva Glam lipstick and gloss. I’ve covered the Viva Glam campaign in more detail however if you’re unfamiliar with this very worthy cause then here is a brief outline from the Mac Australia website.mac-viva-glam-gaga-lipstick-and-lipsglass-review-swatches

Established in 1994 by M·A·C Cosmetics, the M·A·C AIDS Fund supports men, women and children affected by HIV/AIDS globally. Introducing its first VIVA GLAM lipstick that same year, M·A·C decided that every cent of the selling price of the VIVA GLAM lipsticks would go to the M·A·C AIDS Fund. With a total of six shades of Viva Glam lipstick and two shades of Viva Glam lipglass now sold worldwide, and through the annual Kids Helping Kids Card Program, M·A·C Cosmetics has provided over $135 million (US) to date for the M·A·C AIDS Fund. The M·A·C AIDS Fund is the heart and soul of the company – with its employees giving their time, energy and talent to help those affected by HIV/AIDS worldwide

There have been several iteration and limited releases in addition to the 6 shades mentioned above. This includes the Viva Glam Cyndi (a coral red) and Viva Glam Gaga (bubblegum cool-toned pink) from last year as well as the Fergie limited edition lipstick and gloss from 2009.mac-viva-glam-gaga-lipstick-and-lipsglass-review

For 2011 Viva Glam Gaga is nude nude nude! There’s an opaque beige-nude lipstick in the amplified formula and a matching beige-nude lipglass. Both items come with the metallic reg signature of Lady Gaga and the lipstick features red metal instead of the traditional silver.

This is one creamy, opaque nude! It’s very pigmented and easily blanks out the natural tones in my lips. As with all Amplified lipsticks it has a matte finish, but it’s creamy rather than dry. Sadly I don’t feel this shade is very flattering on me, it’s quite warm and there is a lot of peach in it. I think this would look much better on gals with warm skin-tones.

This is a warm nude shade but it much more flattering than the lipstick, I think the shine makes it a little more wearable. There are still the same warm peachy-beige tones. This is a creamy gloss, without shimmer. The formulation is standard for the lipglass: it’s thick, sticky and has the traditional Mac vanilla scent/taste that I love.

I think that Viva Glam Gaga version II will be a hit with those who love the ultra-nude lip look, but sadly it’s just no me. If you are into neutral (but not nude) lip products I highly recommend Viva Glam V lipstick (lustre) and lipglass for a slightly more wearable pair. Viva Glam Gaga II is limited edition for 12 months and will be released this month. RRP for the Lipstick is $35AUD and the gloss is $34AUD with 100% of proceeds going to AIDS research. Please note these items were provided for review.
