MAC Studio Moisture Tint SPF 15 review and swatches – Glam Radar

by Maria · April 6, 2014

I am a HUGE fan of tinted moisturizers; last year I went on for months just using the tinted moisturizer from Shiseido. Previously, I have also used Laura Mercier Oil-Free Tinted Moisturizer in Nude. I actually liked it a lot, even though it oxidize and the oil-control wasn’t that great; it gave me a nice dewy look, I could build on the coverage AND it didn’t break me out. mac-studio-moisture-tint-spf-15-reviewAs much as I liked the results of the Shiseido TM, I was ITCHING to try to something new (as always!); so I placed a MAC order before I went to UK (yes, I hauled during the xmas trip to UK ^^;;) and I placed an order on their TM in medium and the Select Cover Up in NC20. The tinted moisturizer is the first base makeup purchase I have have made from MAC, surprisingly.

I had looked up on some reviews on the TM on MUA and there were some good reviews on it; since I couldn’t swatch it I had to rely on people’s comment to find matching the colour to my skin tone!mac-studio-moisture-tint-spf-15-photo

I was lucky, it actually matched my skin colour pretty well; only it has a little too much yellow tone for me but it blended well to my skin.

The results were “Meh” nothing extraordinary, it offers a sheer coverage; it could cover some redness but not completely. I definitely needed a concealer with this product and I felt I couldn’t build on the coverage as much as I wanted because it would cake up.

Taken at beginning of Feb; I had some post blemish marks and it did a decent job in hiding it, also hiding some of the redness around my nose area and making the pores less obvious.

The SPF factor is not bad, at 15 BUT I can get a higher SPF with my Shiseido at 20SPF.

Also, you need to blend quickly, otherwise it will streak! That really annoyed me because I’d take the makeup whole off again and re-apply to get a even coverage. I thought I might like the “matte” look but it just made my skin looked dull lol. The oil control isn’t t too bad; I haven’t worn it enough at work to comment too much on that since I grease up far more quicker then. I don’t mind ‘matte’ since my HG powder foundation (Dior 4 X pore control) is a matte formula; wonderful results – it’s like my skin BUT better, lol. Little work needs to be done. But yeah, the MAC tinted moisturizer was HARD WORK.mac-studio-moisture-tint-spf-15-review-pic

This product is a disappointment and just did not grow on me… maybe in the summer?

Oh, and the MAC Select-Cover Up? DOn’t get me started.. 😛
