MAC SAINT GERMAIN | Glam Radar

Another day, another MAC lipstick post from me. I’m sorry, I’m sorry, but I need to get my fix somehow, and their foundations make me look orange, so aye. Here is my review of MAC SAINT GERMAIN  !

I’ve been lusting after Saint Germain for a while now. For some reason, I’ve had it in my head that I’d suit powder pink lipstick – I wanted something pale enough to be a nice nod to the 60’s, but bright enough to be… well, me. That’s a difficult challenge to present to any cosmetic retailer, and MUA have thus far failed the challenge, with Rimmel presenting me with an orange coral instead of pink.

Enter MAC. I’ve always loved an Amplified finish, but Saint Germain scared me a little – the pigmented colour looks very Barbie-esque in the tube, and although I like a bold lip, I’ve never been keen on the Nicki Minaj look (the reason that I steered clear of Viva Glam Nicki)

After a particularly bad day two weeks ago, I checked my bank account was in the black and went for it, despite knowing that I now need to wait two weeks til payday for that £14 back (oh MAC, why do you do this to us?!) and oh my, I am in love. I am in love with a lipstick.

This looks very neon here, but it’s not, honest.

The colour is very pigmented and a bit scary, yes, but it looks lovely with a layer of clear lipgloss over it (I use Soap and Glory Sexy Motherpucker) and it’s actually a lot more versatile than it looks. It can be patted down to make the colour a bit less scary, or layered up for a neon lip for a night out. It actually looks better on my pale skin than I thought it would! Because it’s an Amplified finish, it’s not too drying, and has a wear time of about 3-4 hours, so it’s not too bad in that sense. All in all, MAC, I’m very impressed.
