Mac and I used to be tight. We were like best buds for years – I’d visit every week and splash my cash on every collection there was, but alas our friendship eventually fizzled out. Now we’re a bit like distant acquaintances who have a nice, yet slightly awkward chat from time to time.

However, last week I attempted to kiss and make-up (get it?!) by casually visiting my local counter on a spur of the moment shopping escapade. I had the sudden urge to bring home a few black boxes – for old times sake.

First up is one of Mac’s twelve brand spanking new Mineralize Rich Lipsticks in the shade Luxe Naturale, a very pale peach nude, almost identical to Myth but with added shine. Needless to say it was love at first sight/swatch.

The formula of these is truly superb –  they offer medium coverage, a seriously creamy consistency, bags of hydration and a wonderfully glossy finish. It’s like Mac crossed a Creamsheen with a Glaze, added tonnes of minerals (77!) and this was the result!

If you’re a fan of the effortless, does it all lipstick like I am, then I think you’re going to love these but perhaps not the price. Mac have bumped up the bullet size just a little (by 1g) for an excuse to increase it to a whopping £20!

Is it worth it?

Yes and no! It is great quality, and does rival other expensive three in one lipsticks on the market (Dior, YSL, BB), but the packing is nowhere near comparable. I expect a little glitz and gold for 20 quid – don’t you?

Secondly, I decided to pick up a back up of my beloved cheek sculptor, Harmony. This is one of the only powder products that I’ve ever hit pan on – it’s seriously good.

Recommended to me as the ‘perfect contour’ years ago by Tanya Burr, it’s basically all I’ve ever used to chisel my cheeks. Harmony blusher is just the right mix of muted, mid-tone beige brown that creates a natural yet noticeable definition when applied.

If you follow me on Instagram you’ll know I just splashed out on Kevyn Aucoin’s Sculpting powder too (review to come), but a girl needs contour options, right?

It finally looks like me and Mac are back on track – I’m even contemplating a weekend visit, more Mineralize lipsticks are on my mind.
