I was supposed to get a full size Buxom lip balm in Waikiki ($15) but they ran out of it and I received this and 100 beauty insider points instead. Cheers to amazing customer service! Currently Sephora is having a promotion for Buxom Big & Healthy Lipstick. nars-powder-blush-in-madly-tarte-amazonian-clay-blush-in-exposed-review-500x281-1

NARS Powder Blush in Madly ($28), Tarte Amazonian Clay Blush in Exposed ($25)

I was sad to see yet another price increase in the NARS Blushes. Just a few years ago it was $25 but now it’s $28. I think this is my last NARS Blush for awhile (maybe a year…). As for Tarte, I’ve heard sooo many great things about the Amazonian Clay Blushes and I have small samples in my Tarte Rising Star Palette but I wanted to own a full size. Both blushes are raved all over Youtube as being “natural” blushes for those “I don’t know what to wear” days. Although serving the same purpose, both are actually very different definitions of what a “natural blush” is. nars-powder-blush-in-madly-tarte-amazonian-clay-blush-in-exposed-swatches-500x281-1 NARS Madly is described as a “seashell pink” and many agree. Apparently I didn’t know what a seashell pink really looked like (I thought it was more of the Tarte Exposed shade to be honest) but I was pleasantly surprised. It’s such a different blush. I tried duping it from other blushes in my collection and I couldn’t! It’s in between a blush and a bronzer. I have yet to try it.

Tarte Exposed, on the other hand, is a neutral toned muted pink shade. Many didn’t want to try it because they were afraid of the “plummy” aspect of it but I can’t seem to find any plum in this shade! In the pan, it looks like a light dusty pink and swatches like that on my hand and face. It’s such a nice natural blush. It’ll suit both warm and cool tones. I actually didn’t find the blushes to be extremely pigmented like my NARS Blushes or La Femme blushes but I like that – it’s a change to my usual preferences. The texture’s very nice and it is long wearing. After swatching a bunch of blushes (many similar although too warm), I found a pretty similar color dupe so watch out for next week’s Dupe Thursday for that!
