My HOLIDAY HOT LIST !
I’m starting to get excited as I’m going on holiday next Monday for a week to Portugal with my 3 chums. I’ve been gathering things up over the past few weeks and realised there seems to be a few themes running though the clothes! I thought I would compile a list of 3 holiday essentials (beyond sun-cream, swimsuits and sunglasses!) that every girl needs for a sunny, girly holiday!
I’ve selected some of my highstreet favourites-the links to each item are in pink.
1. The maxi dress
A summer staple-maxi dresses are comfortable, simple, good for day or night. For my impending holiday I am taking 5 dresses for night time (along with some denim shorts and a waterfall skirt) as they are light-weight and easily carried in a suitcase. They also don’t wrinkle very easily if they are packed correctly. For my holiday I have all different variants-2 bandeau types, a black one with a shorter underneath layer, a classic maxi shape and a maxi with shoulder cut outs. All were varying prices-from Primark, Forever 21, Miss Selfridge, River Island and New Look. A good maxi will last-I’ve had 2 of these from last summer. To make them more wearable when you are home, team them with Converse and a leather jacket for day or wedges and a statement necklace for night.
2. The comfy but glam night-time sandal
There are numerous holiday resorts (including the one we are going to in Portugal) which are hilly/ have cobble stones/ you need to walk a bit to get to the shops and restaurants. For going out at night, heels, especially those of the stiletto style variant, do not seem appropriate. If you are wearing maxis, the chances are that you can’t see your shoes much anyway! River Island do amazing glam sandals which are still very comfortable. Some are completely flat and some have a small wedge for those wanting a little extra height. I picked up my Michael Kors summer sandals in New York and I can’t wait to take them with me. Think embellishments, glitter, feathers-glam and comfortable.
Day time on holiday to me means a swimsuit, cover up, flip flops and some sunbathing! I’m not the skinniest girl so I feel comfortable in cover ups, especially in a bikini (I have no problem taking the cover up off to sunbathe for the sheer fact that it is your holidays and no one knows you!). I have long kaftan cover ups, short dresses, a jumpsuit and a maxi dress. Each one makes my swimsuit or bikini into an appropriate day time outfit for coming off the beach for lunch. They also can really liven up a boring swimsuit!
