My Thoughts:

The packaging itself is nicely compact and they do a good job with it not feeling cheap and like it’s going to fall apart. It wipes clean very easily making it even more travel friendly. The mirror is almost the entire length of the kit, so you can see your entire face and eyes. I’ve never enjoyed the small round mirrors, which never made sense to me because you can’t see what you’re doing! I had no trouble with this square mirror.

The tweezers are tucked right under the mirror, next to the bend; they’re almost hidden away — it’s perfect. They work fine and have a plastic stopper to keep them closed. I recommend keeping this little doodad. 😉

Let’s get into the brushes shall we… 🙂crown-brush-hd-set-with-mirror-and-tweezers

Pro Powder Brush: This is slightly smaller than your standard large powder brush. It’s a little too small for all over powder and a little too big for blush. This worked great with mineralize powder, finishing powder and highlighters.

Tapered Blush Brush: This brush’s bristles are very densely packed and is more suited to be used for sculpting powders or creams. I use this brush mostly for bronzers and blending creams.

Deluxe Contour Brush: The brush head on this is huge. You need to have huge eyes for this to work into the crease. I happen to have big eyes and this was still a challenge to get to work. With my eye closed, it covers my lid, crease and almost up to my eyebrow. I use this brush on the face to work details into the skin like contouring and highlighting and to cover up blemishes. It’s really nice to use to buff product into the skin. I much prefer it for this purpose! If you do want to use this on your eye, you can do the “quick and dirty smokey eye” using one color and blending it all over the eye and into the crease with this brush until the color is faded out. If you have a hooded eye, this probably won’t work but give it a shot!

Chisel Shadow Brush: This works great to put eye shadow on the eye lid. It picks up the color nicely and creates a really nice smoked out look when using the tip to blur out any lines, especially liner on top or under the eye.

Detail Liner Brush: I did not like this brush. It was not incredibly precise. This brush lays down a thicker line, so if you’re looking for a thin liner, don’t look to this brush.

Crease Blender Brush: This brush is really solid and the star of this kit. It’s a little firmer than your standard crease brush that you may be used (think MAC 224), however, it blends beautifully. Fave brush of the kit, hands down.

Overall, the brushes are quite soft, wash well and don’t shed very much/hardly at all save for a hair here and there. It misses the mark on the brush head size for half of the brushes in the kit and that’s where it fails for me. You probably have several flat head eye shadow brushes and blending brushes in your arsenal already so I’d say pass on this. The quality is great but there are too many better starter kits out there for the money. The balance is just really off on this one.

What’s your favorite travel brush set that hits on both quality and price?

Wishing you all a beautiful day!
