CoverGirl Natureluxe Foundation and Gloss Balm Review
CoverGirl Natureluxe Foundation and Gloss Balm

If you haven’t heard of bzzagent, you may want to check it out.  It’s a marketing site that basically sends free products out to consumers to try.  All they ask in return is that you share your honest opinion with your family, friends, coworkers, etc.  It’s a win-win because bzzagents get to try out free products, and the companies get free word-of-mouth advertising.  In this most recent campaign, I was sent two products from the new CoverGirl Natureluxe line: the Liquid Silk Foundation and the Gloss Balm.

Liquid Silk Foundation:  I actually already owned this in shade 325 (sandstone), so I chose a slightly darker shade 350 (oak) from the campaign that I’ll be able to use when I have a bit of a tan.  I love this foundation.  It’s one of my two favorite drugstore foundations (the other is Neutrogena Healthy Skin Liquid).  It really does feel silky and light on the skin while still providing medium-to-full buildable coverage.  It also has SPF 10, which is nice.  The only thing I’m not crazy about is the scent.  I think they wanted it to smell like cucumber, but it just smells…odd.  If you’re really sensitive to scents in your cosmetics, you might have issues with this one.

Gloss Balm:  I find that most lip balms make my lips feel waxy rather than moisturized and most glosses make my lips look shiny but don’t give much moisture.  I was surprised to find that this product does moisturize the lips pretty well.  It provides a sheer dose of color (sheer, but definitely there).  I wasn’t a fan of the shade they sent me, but I won’t hold that against the product.  The shade I received was 210 (thistle).  It kind of reminds me of a lip product version of MAC Stars N Rockets eyeshadow.  It’s a frosty purplish-pink – almost duochrome – shade.  If I let it sit on my lips for a while, the frostiness tones down and it becomes a more wearable pink shade.  Despite not loving the shade, I did like the product.  It even has SPF 15, so it would be perfect to keep around in the summer when you need a dose of light, fresh color and a little sun protection.
