Copper Eyeshadow Comparison and swatches – Glam Radar

I was playing with my eye shadows the other day and decided to do a comparison of some of my gorgeous copper shades.copper-eyeshadow-comparison

L-R: NYX Copper single shadow, Too Faced Socialite single shadow, Mac Coppering, Mac Pink Bronze pigment, Mac Penny Shadestick.

NYX Copper -This shade is the most brown-toned of the group, it’s deeper and makes a great crease colour. It has a ‘glowing’ finish meaning there is some reflect but I wouldn’t call it frosty. A very cheap product (can be purchased online for only a few dollars) and has a quality far surpassing it’s price.

Too Faced Socialite – This is a very ‘true’ copper in that it reminds me of a copper penny. It has the same metallic finish as a penny and the formula is smooth as butter. This is a gorgeous shade for lid or crease, applies like a dream although the shadow is so soft that you can risk overloading your brush. It’s much less red-toned than the other shades, so good if you prefer your copper with less redness. This retails for $32.95AUD at Kit cosmetics.

Mac Coppering – Mac calls this a ‘high-reflective orange copper’ (although the mac website is WAY off) and I have to agree. This shade has a lot of red; making it an excellent choice for gals with green or hazel eyes. The Veluxe Pearl finish means this shadow has a smooth and even texture; it’s highly pigmented and a dream to apply. $32AUD from Mac counters or online.

Mac Pink Bronze pigment – is neither pink nor bronze…it’s like a bright apricot base with some bright pink reflect through it. Not really copper really but the combo of the apricot base and pink reflect gives a kind of coppery appearance…kind of. Very reflective, metallic finish especially when applied wet. Not my favourite copper; nor my favourite pigment. $39AUD from Mac counters or online.

Mac Penny Shadestick – This is an old product that was discontinued and the re-released as a limited product; so I think currently it’s not available at stores but should be easy to find online. This is another true copper shade with an orangey-brown base. The Shadesticks are a creme stick product that work well as a base underneath powder shadows.

Overall; Coppering and Socialite are my favourite shades; with NYX Copper being close behind. Socialite is my ‘daytime’ or ‘everyday’ pick and Mac Coppering will do the trick if you want a really intense copper shade for evening or special occasion wear; although I have often worn Coppering during the daytime so you can definitely get lots of wear from it. NYX is my ‘budget pick’ as the quality is well worth the few dollars you’ll use purchasing it.
