Max Factor Colour Elixir Giant Pen Stick in Vibrant Pink and “Designer Blossom” – Glam Radar

by Gemma · April 7, 2015

This May saw the launch of Max Factors new Colour Elixir Giant Pen Sticks. To celebrate their launch Priceline offered a buy one get one free sale which is actually still going, so I urge you to race down before the 3rd of June so you can take advantage of the sale also. These sticks have a RRP of a measly $9.95 which is incredibly affordable, I would love to see more make up released with a price around that range.
The two shades I bought to give a try are “Vibrant Pink” and “Designer Blossom”. The pink is a beautiful soft fuchsia whereas the red is nice glossy light red.

These new crayons are super trendy right now and I love whipping my Vibrant Pink out of my bag in hopes that someone will see me playing with it. They are very light and fit perfectly within the palm of my hand. I love the whole concept of a lip stick pen, they are wonderful at lining lips and then filling in…..only they do take longer to apply then what a lipstick or gloss would. You need to take time to fill and shade in your lips with these pen sticks and you will definitely need a mirror on standby but they are a lot of fun to use.

I find the Vibrant Pink easier to work with which is odd because one would think they have the same formula, the pink just seems to work better with the colour of my natural lip. I’m sure you can tell from all the photos that Vibrant Pink is my favourite. Any ho, they are indeed very creamy and glide across my lips effortlessly, only care needs to be taken to make sure all gaps are filled. I have to layer across my lips a few times for the pigment to really show and be even. The lip colour can smudge off very easily when first applied but in saying that I notice that it leaves a nice stain on my lips. I eat and drink….and eat and drink….and after 4 hours the colour is still visible on my lips, so it begins as a shiny gloss lippy and slowly settles to a stain. I’m actually very impressed with its staying power considering how low their cost is.

Something which is a must for me with every single lip product is that it has to be moisturising and hydrating on my lips, these crayons get the tick of approval from me. Only towards the end of their “on the lip life” do they become drying which just signals to me that I need to apply another coat. I love how hydrated they keep my lips.

So all round its a wonderful product. I love its cost and quality and cannot recommend them enough for everyone to buy. A truly handbag worthy lip product! I already have them on my list to buy another two shades this week.

Oh and before I go I just want to share with you this super cute sample I got from TheBalm last week. Is it not the most adorable thing ever. It can be used as a blush or shadow so it’s going to be very handy for travelling or nights out. Its so tiny and sweet 🙂
