Have you ever fallen so in love with a high end beauty product that you can’t imagine ever settling for anything else? That is until you pull out your wallet to pay for it! Then you begin wishing there was a way to get the same thing at a much lower cost?  If you said yes, then you and I should be twins!  Just kidding, but really, we are alike! The nice thing is every once in a while there is a great way to get the same thing (or fairly close) for much less.  I’ll take you through a quick overview of my two favorite foundations and let your wallet make the decision!

I have absolutely, positively, 100% fallen in love with Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua.  It applies so flawlessly without requiring a lot of work with a brush.  In fact, it was made to be easy to apply with just your fingers. We are a match made in Heaven.  The downside is…the price! Chanel’s website lists the price at $45 but now I’m spoiled and can’t imagine going back to anything else!

A few weeks ago Stephanie came across what she had heard was a comparable dupe to the Vitalumiere foundation.  It is the Bourjois Healthy Mix foundation.  It’s not a water based foundation like the Aqua is, so it doesn’t require any shaking prior to application and it comes with a pump top. The best part?  Steph was able to purchase it for $12 online (I’ve found it from between $12-25 depending what website and any offers given).

Obviously, I was really skeptical, but after she let me try it, I fell in love! Don’t get me wrong, I’m not canning my Chanel anytime soon, I’m just giving my wallet a break. The Vitalumiere Aqua provides light to medium buildable coverage while the Healthy Mix provides medium coverage that can be sheered out with a damp sponge or mixed with moisturizer if you want a lighter coverage.  I also think it’s worth noting that they are both made by the same  company (Bourjois owns Chanel!) so it’s not a huge departure in terms of quality.
As far as color matching, Bourjois Healthy Mix in 52- Vanilla is a perfect color match to Chanel B20 (Bourjois swatches a little more dewy than Chanel).  If you’d like to find your own color match, check Temptalia’s foundation matrix!
It is quite tricky to find in the USA, so if you do spot it I’d recommend snatching it up!
