Here is my review of LAURA MERCIER ROSE RENDEZVOUS ILLUMINATOR !

Here’s a purchase that not everyone will understand. In fact, I often get comments like “I’d never pay for that” Well, some of you may want to skip this post!

During the Friends and Family Event at Sephora, I walked straight into Sephora expecting to snag Laura Mercier’s Rose Rendezvous Illuminator. It was GORGEOUS! It was obvious that the tester had been swatched over and over again and yet the rose pattern was still intact and visible. After swatching it on my hand, I fell in love. It didn’t contain glitter; Just a perfect sheen. However, I then tried it on my cheekbones and became very hesitant to make the purchase. It looked metallic on my fair skin. You could see the obvious rose gold sheen on my face when I moved. I wasn’t sure if that was “my thing.” I walked around for awhile and then regretfully left it behind.

Days later I still couldn’t stop thinking about this limited edition highlighter. I didn’t have anything like it in my collection. I’m normally a fan of liquid/cream highlighters. But this one almost felt like a cream when swatched. It was so smooth; it went on like a dream. I kept wondering if I had over done it, it was so smooth and creamy that I could have very well over applied it. I kept stalking Sephora’s website until it said “out of stock.”

Then my husband made a great point, “If you’re thinking about it that much, then just go get it.” So I called Sephora and sure enough, they were sold out. I was ok with that. It just wasn’t meant to be.

Obviously it doesn’t end there…

While researching something else on Sephora’s site, I saw that they restocked the highlighter and I added it to my basket. And then I thought, “Do I really NEED this? It’s so beautiful but it’s definitely a splurge I don’t need to make” And YET AGAIN I left it there, in my basket for a few days.

A couple of days passed and I was having one of those days where everything seems to be wrong, you almost feel like just indulging in self pity. Well, I browse makeup instead! I logged on to Sephora with every intention to make the purchase and never look back. OUT OF STOCK. You have got to be kidding me! How was it still in my basket? I clicked “check out” and it worked!

I felt like one of my dogs, running to the door every time I heard a truck pass by while waiting for UPS to deliver my long awaited Rose Rendezvous Illuminator. And then there it was, broken. Sure, it’s just a small piece that broke off. But nevertheless, still heartbreaking! I didn’t bother to return it because my store is sold out and I’m sick of returning broken items to Sephora. This will be the last online item I purchase that is a powder. Most of them don’t seem to make it to me in one piece.

I’m happy to announce that I can make rose gold work for me by using a light hand to apply it. It’s gorgeous. It’s something I didn’t need but it’s something that made me extremely happy to own. Some of you will understand.
