If you’re a regular follower of this blog (or if you stalk me, watching my every move through binoculars…) you’ll know my skin is of the oily persuasion. Here is my review of Boots No7 Shine Free Primer   ! I am an Oily Nancy and there’s nothing I can do about it. Sure, it has its upsides: I’ll no wrinkle as quickly and I have only had flakey face once or twice (usually as a result of over-doing anti-oil treatments…) but on the whole, having a greasy face is about as much fun as being kicked in the shin. So I’ve tried a lot of anti-shine treatments, from anti-shine moisturisers to anti-shine primers, and have never been that impressed. Until I met Boots No7 Shine Free Primer. boots-no7-shine-free-primer Laaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah! That is the sound of angels singing. That is the sound of ANGELS SINGING, because my skin is so matte and oil-free. This primer is not easy to get on with. You need to cleanse and moisturise, then quickly (quickly!) apply to your face, in a half-patting, half-stroking motion. Do not rub this or handle it more than you need to, because once it starts to settle on the skin you’ll just end up rubbing little rubbery flakes off your cheeks. Basically, it’s like PVA glue. I know, that sounds gross, but that’s what it reminded me of, the first time I used it, and it flaked all over. If this happens to you, I found that patting it with a damp finger did help, though the first two times, I had to just take it all off and start over! It took me a couple of tries to get right, but now I won’t be without it. Though it is thick in consistency and a bugger to apply at first, it is very lightweight and feels totally natural on the skin. It also keeps me matte all day. I’d say that my face felt, at 5pm (with this applied at 8am, no touch-ups) as greasy as it used to feel at around 11am. HUGE IMPROVEMENT! I love this primer so much, I have actually stopped wearing foundation during the day (though this is in some part thanks to the amazing job my new Madara cleanser is doing). I am usually sceptical of super-positive reviews, but I can unequivocally say that this primer is absolutely every bit as good as I say. This primer has out-performed mattifiers from Soap & Glory, Murad, L’Oreal and even out-performs my Origins matte foundation. The best bit, apart from my GLORIOUS MATTE FAAACE, is that this primer is a mere £11! And a little really does go a long way, so this 40ml tube will last ages. Excellent, and a must-buy for Oily Nancies.
