Benefit They’re Real Mascara Review

Whilst food shopping/trying to find a magazine to read on the train to London, I saw Elle. I can’t say its one that I would typically pick up, but one thing struck me. What’s this? A freebie? Well, that means you have to buy the mag then doesn’t it! Even better that it was a free sample size of Benefit’s ‘They’re Real!’ – a much loved mascara by pretty much everyone. It’s had such good ratings from everyone, from bloggers to celebrities, so I knew I had to try it. My sister uses this daily, but conveniently whenever I want to borrow and try it out to see whether I want it myself, theres “none left” or “I left it in my other bag” (she doesn’t live with me anymore!). This is only a 40g size, so everything is smaller, including the little handle which does make it a tiny bit harder to use especially if you have big hands! Luckily, I don’t, but you wouldn’t be using a sample sized one forever anyway would you.

Benefit They're Real Mascara Review

I was expecting miracles from this product. Mascara’s are pretty tough things for me, I really hate trying new mascara’s. I tend to stick to one because most of the ones I’ve tried I really don’t get on with. They never do what they say they will, to lead me to disappointment that I’ve wasted my money. I’m pretty happy that this was only a sample size. I really can’t get the hang of it, and I really don’t think it “dramatically enhances my lashes” or anything like that. If you look in the pictures below, you’ll see that my lashes just look short and stubby. I know I really don’t have the best lashes before (they’re short, sparse and just yucky!), so all this mascara really did to me was just darken them. I do admit they did look a bit thicker though. Benefit’s ‘They’re Real’ “lengthens, curls, volumizes, lifts and separates  The jet black, long wearing formula won’t smudge or dry out. The brush is specially designed to reveal lashes you never knew you had!” I do agree that it is a hard wearing mascara! I took my makeup off, had a shower, and it was still there. It just would not budge. For that, I thought it was amazing. I praise it for that. The statistics:
  • 94% saw dramatic length and curl
  • 90% saw base-to-tip curl
  • 94% saw visible lift
  • 100% saw long wearing results.

I really want to give this mascara a better try. I really want to love it! What do you think of this mascara? Is it worth its £19.50 price tag? What Benefit products do you recommend?
