Asian skincare routine

Finally!!! Asian skincare routine ! I’m going to do a long overdue updated skincare post! I’ve been getting quite a number of requests for this, and I know I promised to do one some time ago.daily Asian skincare routineasian skincare routine

Before I start, I want to do a continuation of a skincare rave I did several months ago. Forgive me if I’m going to sound like a giddy endorser again, lol.

I’ve been using SK-II products since February 2012, and I just have to say it again – it really is the best thing that has ever happened to my skin! Before SK-II, I always felt the need to use a lot of BB cream because, though I wasn’t really prone to breakouts, my skin was incredibly dull, uneven and I had humungous pores! After about two months of using SK-II, I found that I could get away without using any foundation or BB cream at all. I was still in Singapore during that time, and it was so awfully convenient because I didn’t have to spend time perfecting my skin with BB cream anymore. I would just conceal my dark circles, put on brown eyeliner, fill in my eyebrows, and I’d be off to work in a jiffy! It was a miracle for me. My skin was just naturally radiant and glowing, my pores weren’t as noticeable anymore, and my skin texture improved significantly. I finally had my dream skin! The superficial creature was truly ecstatic. (My friends jokingly tell me that when or if SK-II finally decides to launch in the country, I can totally be a spokesperson, lol. I’m a self-proclaimed Pitera addict!)

When I moved back to the Philippines last month, however, I broke out really bad. Like my skin became oily, I got zits on my forehead and small red bumps on my cheeks, and my nose became super dry and flaky! I’m not exactly sure what caused it. I’m thinking it could be because it’s super humid here, or because of the pollution, stress, etc. My skin looked so bad, you could just imagine how much I panicked! Argh! Anyway, I’ve been putting extra effort into my skincare routine since, and I’m happy to see that my skin is starting to clear up again (and starting to adjust back to the Philippine weather, perhaps?). Hopefully we’ll be back on track soon! *crosses fingers*

EDIT: I found out that the breakouts I had weren’t acne. Rather, they were really bad allergy rashes caused by some new cosmetics I started to use when I got back from sg! I had no idea and kept on using them for weeks, until it got really, really bad. My cheeks were covered in stinging rashes! They went away shortly after I stopped using the products and took allergy meds for a couple of days. There are still a few scars and bumps left from the rashes though. 🙁

Anyway, I’ll stop boring you with my SK-II raving now. Let’s get on with the routine, shall we? I know it will sound complicated, but my usual routine takes only 10-15 minutes each, in the morning and before hitting the sack. It’s really quite simple! Here’s a quick overview first:

my skincare routing for a DAYTIME:
1. SK-II Facial Treatment Gentle Cleanser
2. SK-II Cellumination Mask-in Lotion
3. SK-II Facial Treatment Essance
5. Lancome UV GN-Shield

Asian skincare routine for a NIGHTTIME:
1. Makeup removers
2. SK-II Facial Treatment Gentle Cleanser
3. SK-II Facial Treatment Clear Lotion
4. SK-II Facial Treatment Essence

Every other week (or less, lol):

1. Remove makeup

my asian skincare routine

First step in my skincare routine is to remove makeup. I’m very anal when it comes to removing any trace of makeup on my skin.

I first remove my eye makeup using L’oreal Gentle Lip and Eye Makeup Remover.

I rarely use foundation, but when I do, I make sure I remove it completely off my skin after. For removing face makeup, I alternate between SK-II Facial Treatment Cleansing Cream, SK-II Facial Treatment Cleansing Gel,  Shu Uemura White Recovery EX+ Brightening Cleansing Oil, Lancome Comforting Cleansing Milk, Cetaphil, and FANCL Mild Cleansing Oil.

2. Wash and Exfoliateasian skincare routine products

After removing my makeup, I wash my face with my favorite cleansing foam, SK-II Facial Treatment Gentle Cleanser. I love how it cleanses my skin thoroughly while keeping it moisturized and soft. Love the scent, too! I wash my face twice a day – when I wake up and before going to bed.

I also exfoliate twice to thrice a week, or whenever I feel like I need it. I use Cure Natural Aqua Gel.

3. Toneasian skincare routine cosmetics

After washing my face in the morning, I use SK-II Cellumination Mask-in Lotion for hydration and that extra kick of radiance enhancement.

At night, I use SK-II Facial Treatment Clear Lotion to make sure that there is no trace of dirt left after cleansing with facial foam, then proceed with  SK-II Cellumination Mask-in Lotion.

4. Essenceasian facial treatment

After toner comes my favorite skincare product of all, the “Miracle Water”SK-II Facial Treatment Essence! (I love all of my SK-II products, but this one has got be the star for me. I can’t live without my FTE!) I pat about 6-8 drops of this miraculous Pitera goodness all over my skin twice a day. Yum yum!

As you can see, I just ran out of my 150ml bottle (I also used up a couple of 30ml samples along the way). Good thing I was able to get myself a limited edition 330ml bottle before leaving Singapore! Love how the jumbo bottle comes with a pump.

5. Moisturizeasian skincare routine moisturizer

For moisturizer, I use Hada Labo Whitening Milk. I use only one drop and pat it all over my face, concentrating on my nose which tends to become dry and flaky. It does a good job keeping my skin moisturized the whole day. I can’t say that it really whitens (which is a good thing – we don’t want to look like a geisha), BUT I notice that it does help keep my skin looking bright and luminous. (You probably have noticed by now – I’m a huge sucker for any product that claims to brighten the skin or enhance radiance or reduce dullness, lol.)

EDIT: I have stopped using Hada Labo Whitening Milk. My skin has become combination-oily since I came home to the Philippines. It worked amazing when I had dry skin back in Singapore, but it’s far too rich for my now oily skin. Now I find that SK-II Cellumination Mask-in Lotion and Facial Treatment Essence provide enough hydration for my skin and I can usually get away without using a separate moisturizer.

I know this is bad and it’s probably going to bite me in the ass in future, but I can’t be bothered to use eye cream. *enter gasps from skincare experts* I’m just too lazyyyyyyy! But I WILL, maybe someday soon, heh.

6. Sunscreenasian skincare routine sunscreen

I always [try to] make sure to use sunscreen before going out, especially because I spend a lot of time driving where I am constantly exposed to the sun. I like to use Lancome UV GN-SHIELD which is a very slightly tinted sunscreen. I also sometimes use Chanel White Essentiel Base de Teint when I need something that could double as a primer, or when I feel like I need an extra boost of radiance.

7. Masksasian skincare routine masks
I don’t use masks as often as I should or want to, mainly because I feel too lazy to use them regularly, lol! Besides, I feel like my Cellumination Mask-in Lotion already does a good intensive job in place of a sheet mask most days.

However, I do LOVE SK-II’s Whitening Source Derm Revival Mask. It’s probably the best I’ve ever tried! Instead of the recommended 15 minutes, I put it on for 1-2 hours, heh. And I tell you, once you remove it and massage the remaining serum into your skin, you can say hello to super radiant, super bright, super soft and supple skin! Even my boyfriend who usually doesn’t notice such things went wow when he saw the effect. I love it and I save it for more special events, hee.

I also like My Beauty Diary’s Black Pearl Mask and Talika Brightening Mask.
