Black is one of the nail polish colors I know most of us have. They may be a little too goth for some but for us who love it, it’s chic and edgy and very versatile. Black nail polish tends to make our hands look better, too, which is why many women choose to have their nails painted in this hue. If you’re sort of getting tired of the same old color on your hand, though, but you’re afraid to switch because you love the way black makes your hands look, check out these alternatives to black nail polish that are just as posh.
- Oxblood – if you want just the right tinge of color without losing the dark look, painting your fingers with an oxblood hued nail polish might just be what you need to do. Oxblood is a rich, dark and warm color that’s great for fall and winter but on the nails, you can wear them any time of the year. They’re versatile and slightly more feminine than plain black. Our recommended oxblood polishes? Single Ladies by Deborah Lippman, Sam by Zoya and Vixen by Revlon.
- Midnight blue – this striking color that’s just the right balance between navy and black is a great alternative to black nail polish when you want something with a bit more of a depth and dimension to it. For midnight blue nail polish, we recommend Midnight in Paris by Maybelline, Road House Blues by OPI and Ryan by Zoya. Add a little sparkle to your midnight blue nails with some glitter top coat for a fairytale inspired look.
- Purple plum – purple is such a pretty color and as a nail polish hue, this one makes a great alternative to black. Choose a purple hue that has a bit of a berry tint to it. it will make your hands look more feminine and will add a rather royal vibe. Some of the best purple plum nail polishes we’ve tried are Burgundy Flirt by Rimmel, Chelsea by Nails Inc., and Lincoln Park at Midnight by OPI.
- Chocolate brown – warm, ooey gooey chocolate brown is the perfect and most delicious way to replace your everyday black nail polish. Try a slightly lighter hue for a more decadent look or go dark all the way to get the same vampy vibe. Our faves? Partner in Crime by Essie and Forbidden Fudge by Sally Hansen!
