Haha yeah I think it’s kind of obvious by now, isn’t it? Don’t be fooled by how my skin displays itself in this picture. It’s just the foundation, I assure you. I still have some bumps on my forehead and along my jawline. So annoying! I just hope they’ll go away soon. The doctor said it could be hormonal or stress-related, so I had to watch my diet and browse as many cat pictures as possible. :p

I had actually been trying out Diorskin Nude for a week before I had to stop using foundations altogether. I thought it was causing my skin to react but no, I stopped using it for another couple of weeks and nothing happened.

Now that my skin has slowly begun to clear up, I’m getting it out of my drawer again. Oddly enough, even though my skin is now drier and duller than before my breakout started, I still find myself admiring this foundation. It works amazingly well on me, even when my skin is not in its best condition.dior-diorskin-nude-hydrating-makeup-spf-10-in-honey-beige-040-375x500-2

There’s no Dior counter in my city so I just chose the shade based on the description on Sephora’s website. I picked up Honey Beige (040) which turns out to be too dark for me. This shade would probably suit NC40-ish people better. I could still make it work by mixing it with my other foundations that are lighter in color, but I find that I get the best looking finish if I don’t mix it with other foundations. In other words: I’m now in a big dilemma whether or not I should get another bottle in the right shade. FML!

Consistency
When I first used it, I forgot to shake the bottle first (too much excitement on my part) and it came out too liquid-y. On my second try, I did it right and the foundation is actually much creamier than I thought. It almost feels like a cream foundation! It doesn’t spread as easily so I wouldn’t necessarily recommend using your fingers when applying in order to avoid streaky application. I myself prefer to apply it with my Everyday Minerals kabuki brush or MAC 187, then continue with a sponge if I need to even it out more.

Coverage
With this foundation being advertised as a “natural and hydrating”, I thought it would offer sheer coverage. To my surprise, it’s actually pretty thick… no wait, I think the best word to describe it is “pigmented.” Yes, it’s so pigmented that it manages to cover any discoloration and acne scars I have on my face. I don’t need to wear concealer anymore except maybe on my under eye area.

That being said, this foundation doesn’t feel heavy to me. Instead, it’s quite lightweight and I can build up the coverage without looking cakey. You know how sometimes thick foundation tends to accentuate dry areas, especially those flaky post-acne scars? Well, that doesn’t happen with this foundation. It just makes my skin look flawless all over both in real life and in pictures.

Finish
Diorskin Nude gives off the best finish I’ve ever encountered in a foundation. I guess it could be described as a semi-matte finish. My face doesn’t look dead matte or as I like to put it.. “makeup-y”, but instead it looks naturally dewy.

At first I was worried that the dewiness would turn me into an oil slick an hour later (like my MAC F&B tends to do), but no. It lasts me a good 4-5 hours before I have to touch up with powder. This is actually the first foundation I could wear without having to finish off with powder afterwards. It looks so good on my skin even my sister had to admit it. XD

Oil Control & Staying Power Once I slept with this foundation on for about two hours and I woke up with it still intact. I didn’t even wear any primer! I don’t have to touch-up with powder as often and well, it did oxidize a little but with the weather being so hot these days, I guess it’s still excusable. I have read that this turns orange on some people and yes, I think there’s a high chance of that happening because it’s a very pigmented foundation. Luckily for me, it actually blends better to my skin color once it oxidizes. Does that make any sense to you? :/

Packaging

Some people find the pump to be too small to get the product out, but I personally don’t have any problem with that. I think the packaging is very well done; it manages to look beautiful and luxurious yet still practical.

Where to buy I ordered this foundation from Strawberrynet.com along with the Diorskin Forever compact powder. I can’t say anything bad about the store. I just prefer them because I don’t like waiting too long for my packages and packages sent from Hong Kong generally arrive faster to my address. My transaction with them went on smoothly and their customer service was really helpful when I had some trouble with my address confirmation. I received my package within 9 days after I paid for it so that’s not too bad at all. I would gladly recommend Strawberrynet.com if you want to buy Dior products online. They offer worldwide free shipping and most of the time they have a free gift promotion as well.

Shade selection

Diorskin Nude comes in 12 shades. I chose Honey Beige as it is described as being suitable for medium complexions with neutral undertones but I don’t necessarily think it’s “neutral”. I think it has a bit of a pink tint to it. I’m an NC 37 in MAC Studio Fix Fluid and now that I think about it, I’m pretty sure my closest match would be Sand (031).

pros: – natural looking finish – lightweight feel – great coverage, especially that it cancels out redness and other discoloration – a little goes a long way! – buildable without looking cakey – doesn’t accentuate dry patches – photographs well – comes with SPF – good staying power

– beautiful packaging

cons: – pricey and not available locally – tends to transfer because of the heavy pigmentation – has a slight funny smell, but nothing too offensive

OK, ignore the lame pose, but it’s the only picture taken with flash

All in all, I think the product is amazing! If you’re looking for a top-notch foundation that could last you a long time, this is it. With such heavy pigmentation, I never need more than a couple of pumps to cover my entire face and neck. Considering that, I think the price is well worth it.

However, if your skin is the very oily type, I don’t know if it’ll work for you because the finish is much on the dewy side and it has that oxidizing issue you might want to avoid.

That’s it! I’m done! If you’ve tried this foundation too, let me know what you think about it. 😉
